MY SHORT BIO
Nicholas Perry Clark is a conductor who synthesizes his experience as a storyteller, composer, and curator to craft meaningful musical experiences. Nick serves as Artistic Curator of Density512, a contemporary chamber orchestra in Austin, TX that he co-founded in 2017, as well as Interim Music Director of the Greater Rockwall Youth Symphony in Rockwall, TX. He holds degrees from The University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) and The University of Texas at Austin. At UMKC, he led UMKC Opera to great success as Principal Conductor for Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and as Assistant Conductor for Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up. As a student of Kevin Noe, he is a fiercely devoted score studier and interpreter who leads workshops on the topic. Nick is an active composer whose works have been performed by NOW Ensemble, Zzyzx Quartet, Density512, members of the Oregon Symphony, and various collegiate ensembles around the country. His greatest passion is directing curated, high-impact musical experiences such as his latest productions, The Pandemic is a Portal and God and Other Needs. He continues to mount musical projects in Austin and Kansas City. In his free time he can be heard imitating his favorite instrument, the contrabassoon.
